PILLAR THREE: Orphans and vulnerable children

Orphans and vulnerable children. (OVC) Target Group: 18 and below.
RSF seeks to educate them, empower them to become independent, by providing scholarships and training them in different trades for those who are interested. Give them entrepreneurial skills.
PROSPECTIVES
- Selection of OVCs for the RSF scholarship based on Merits as from this year 2022/2023 school year.
- Increase the scholarships to include tuition and all school needs.
- Monthly meetings where they will be educated on the societal vices, basic finance management.
- Introduce entrepreneurial courses on workshop bases.
- Provide minimal health insurance for members of this group.
CHALLENGES
- Lack of Funds to provide scholarships for the children to go to school
- Lack of health insurance coverage
- Difficulties in getting the girl children from getting into young motherhood.
- Need for specific training and orientation for girls who are rushed into marriage by successors.
- Lack of entrepreneurial workshops in rural communities.
- Sporadic attacks on schools here scare some of the children away from school.
- Education at the rural area is weak as compared to the urban area, because of quality of teachers.
